Established in the beautiful North Yorkshire village of Thornton-le-Dale, Pickering, Velo Ice Cream Company was born from a passion for cycling and quality food. We offer a unique vintage ice cream tricycle service, with a traditional sense of British style.
Our products are locally sourced and our bespoke packages are perfect for any occasion. So, if you’re planning your wedding day, a birthday party, special occasion or the local summer festival please get in touch as we’d love nothing better than to pedal over and serve up a traditional taste of Yorkshire.

Velo Ice Cream Company pride ourselves on giving you the best quality, traditional dairy ice cream. Our ice cream is locally produced in Yorkshire by family owned Beacon Farm of Whitby.
They use fresh whole milk, double cream and the finest ingredients to make their ice cream and create a variety of mouthwatering flavours.
Beacon farm use only natural fruit pastes to make over 20 different delicious ice cream & sorbets flavours with No artificial flavoring or colourings.
Our premium scoop service gives you the option of having four flavours, chosen by you from our entire ice cream menu. We are also happy to cater for our vegan and gluten-free customers by offering a refreshingly fruity selection of sorbets.
To add a little colour and flare for your taste buds, we also offer a selection of toppings. Our toppings are presented on our stylish vintage toppings table, bringing you an extra special touch for your guests and your event.
If you have a particular ice cream or branded ice-lolly you wish to serve to your guests, just let us know and we will do our best to source to your taste.
Based on the original 1920’s distinctive ‘Stop me and Buy one’ peddlers trading trikes, Our Bike is both handcrafted in the UK and unique in its style. Inspired by the original Morris Minor Traveler (nicknamed Woody due to the handcrafted framework), our bike is vintage in her design, friendly with her presence and appeals to both the Old and Young at heart.
Not only is our bike pleasing to the eye, we are also very proud to be an eco-friendly operator. The freezer unit is modern and very efficient. The freezer is self-sustaining and continually powered by battery or solar energy; which means no defrosting over trading hours. Also, no need to worry about dirty, polluting and noisy generators. We take care to use eco-friendly and recyclable products such as our ice cream pots, serviettes and spoons.
Velo Ice Cream Company want to promote a healthy lifestyle, even though we still love our ice cream. We are both mobile and nimble which allows us to be flexible being suitable for both indoor and outdoor events. Should the British weather become changeable on the day of your event, don’t worry – we can relocate to shelter and ensure your guests still get to enjoy your event and our wonderful ice cream.
Velo Ice Cream Company are happy to cycle over to your event no matter how big or small. We can provide a bespoke service tailored to your needs and the occasion. Our premium scoop service can make an alternative welcome at your event, a focal point for your dessert or we can just offer something uniquely different for your guests to enjoy.

Premium services
Our premium scoop service package includes the following:
- Quality real Dairy Ice Cream, locally produced in Yorkshire using the best natural ingredients.
- A choice of 4 Ice Cream flavours… (or Sorbets)
- Your flavours chosen from a full menu of over 20 delicious recipes.
- Quality Crispy cones, also made in Yorkshire and/or Eco-friendly Tubs & Spoons.
- A selection of Ice Cream Toppings: Sprinkles, Flakes & Sauces.
- A stylish toppings table to complement our vintage Bicycle.
- One or Two smartly presented, qualified and trained servers.
- 2- or 3- hours service (Times of your choice)

A 20% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your booking with the balance required 31 days before the event. Additional mileage costs may be charged for bookings outside a 35 mile radius from our base in Thornton-le-Dale. Charged at a flat rate of £1 per mile.
Health & Safety
- All Servers are fully trained and have the necessary food and hygiene certificates
- We have full Public Liability Insurance cover.
- We are a fully registered Business with Rydale District Council.
- We have been awarded the Highest Rating for our standards in food safety management.
- COVID-19: The safety of our customers and staff is paramount and it is vitally important when considering a booking we evaluate the standards required in being COVID Secure. Velo Ice Cream Company has conducted a full COVID 19 Risk Assessment and in so doing has referred to guidelines issued by the Government, the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), Public Health England (PHE) and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). We have identified a number of sensible measures we can introduce into our workplace to control risks COVID 19 present. A copy of our risk assessment is available upon request.
